Local outing to the National Zoo / Black Family Reunion

Hi All,
I know it has been a while since my initial post.  I'm trying to change that.
Monday April 9th, we went to the National Zoo here in Washington DC for the Black Family Reunion. It's a tradition they hold every year the Monday after Easter.
It was a gorgeous day Monday, a little cool, but nice for all that walking. And boy is it a lot of walking. The zoo sits off Connecticut Avenue and it has a fairly steep grade as you walk around. Great exercise for your legs, but be prepared.

Parking was a nightmare, my suggestion: come early for parking or take the Metro. This was my first year attending the Zoo for the Black Family Reunion. A lot of construction going on in the zoo as they expand habitats for some of the animals. I got to see some of my favorites: The great ape house, cheetahs and the big cats. Didn't see the Pandas as they were inside and the line was too long. I will try to remember to post a couple photos. The Gorillas and Orangutans were funny. One of the gorillas was sitting up in one of the trees with his arms folded across his chest with a look on his face like "You don't expect me to entertain you all, do you".

Met up with my friend's family, ate, played with the kids and got ready to leave for the day.

All in all it was a nice end to a long Easter weekend. Talk soon.
